Treat Yourself To A Spa Day At Home
Stuck at home and feeling glum? Don’t let quarantine blues get to you! You probably just need a little pampering to get back into your groove.
Unfortunately, we are still dealing with the “new normal” and that means your usual spa trips will have to wait. But this doesn’t mean that you can never have beauty days again! Because no one’s stopping us from having a spa day at home.
The alternative may not be as luxe as your usual wellness retreat but trust us, this still works!
It’s super important to have regular pampering days, not only for your skin but also for your well-being. Self-care activities like a spa day at home can effectively lower stress and anxiety, leaving you refreshed and refueled again.
Here are some tips for your special spa day at home:
Plan ahead.
Make it a special day that’s focused one thing — relaxation. It is best to plan ahead and block out the day on your calendar. Tell everyone that you will be inaccessible and don’t forget to put your phone on airplane mode too. The emails and social media scrolling can wait!
Try dry brushing.
If you haven’t tried dry brushing yet, you are missing out. Dry brushing is brushing the entire body in a particular pattern using a natural bristle brush. Not only does it exfoliate the skin, it is also believed to improve blood flow. This is best done before stepping in the shower or the bath.
Light scented candles.
One of the best things about spas is they smell so good. The minute you step inside a spa, you are instantly transported to another world because of the smell and sound. You can recreate this at home with scented candles. Choose relaxing scents like lavender, dim the lights and take it up a notch by playing nature sounds on a speaker. This set up will get you in the mood to chill and unwind.
Indulge with a bath bomb.
Not only are bath bombs super pretty, they are also super relaxing and nourishing on skin. While they can be a little pricey, it is perfectly fine to indulge. It is your “me time”, after all and you deserve the best!
Mask up while soaking.
How can you take your baths to the next level for that special spa day at home? Mask up while you are soaking. Combining these two will make your bath experience more spa-like. Choose a hydrating facial mask that can calm and nourish your skin. Look for face masks that have ingredients like chamomile and rosemary.
Don’t forget the feet.
Your spa day at home experience shouldn’t stop at just soaking in the tub, your feet needs pampering too. We spend our whole day on our feet but they tend to be overlooked. For tired and dry feet, an Epsom salt foot soak would be so refreshing. You can also add baking soda to help with odor and peppermint oil to help with inflammation. After the foot soak, massage your feet gently with a foot roller or better yet, have your partner massage them for you!
Lock in the moisture.
Your skin has been exfoliated, washed and soaked. It is now prepped for moisturizing. This is the best time to go off and use your best and most luxe skincare products to pamper your skin. Use body butters, body balms or oils that have deeply moisturizing ingredients like shea butter, jojoba oil and Vitamin E. Apply your moisturizer while your skin is still a little damp so it can lock in all that delicious nourishment and moisture from all the bath products you used.
Slip in comfy loungewear.
When you’re all clean, moisturized and relaxed, there’s one thing left to do — chill in loungewear. Choose the comfiest clothes in your closet or the sexiest silky lingerie you have. Honestly, they don’t really have to be expensive pieces. They could be a pair of old, worn-out sweats. As long as they are comfortable to wear, makes you feel relaxed and brings you joy, they would be the perfect topper to conclude your spa day at home.
